Winter’s Invitation in a World That Never Slows
Laura Corbelli | DEC 19, 2025
Do you feel tired lately?
Do you feel the need to slow down, even just for a moment?
Do you notice how your body and your breath are asking for more space, more quiet, more care?
If so, you’re not alone — and there’s nothing wrong with you. It’s simply winter speaking.
Winter carries a very different energy than the rest of the year.
It doesn’t push.
It doesn’t rush.
It doesn’t ask you to become more or do more.
Winter whispers.
And yet, living in today’s world, listening to that whisper can feel incredibly hard.
This season, which naturally calls for slowing down, is often the one filled with the most expectations. End-of-year deadlines, social gatherings, celebrations, family commitments, planning, goals, resolutions. The calendar gets full, the mind gets busy, and suddenly winter becomes loud.
I feel this contrast deeply. Nature is resting, turning inward, conserving energy — while you are often asked to speed up, to perform, to keep everything moving. It’s no wonder that exhaustion, tension, and a sense of being overwhelmed show up more strongly during this time.
Respecting winter’s need for quiet can feel almost rebellious.
You might notice a lack of motivation, a desire to withdraw, the need for more sleep, more space, more softness. And instead of honoring it, you may judge it — telling yourself you should be more productive, more present, more energetic.
But know that there's nothing that need to be fixed.
It’s just a rhythm to honour and respect.
Slowing down in this season doesn’t mean stepping away from life. It means choosing how you meet it. Doing less, but with more awareness. Allowing pauses between moments. Creating small pockets of quiet, even when the world keeps asking for more.
Self-care in winter isn’t about adding another task to your to-do list. It’s about listening. About noticing when your body asks you to rest, when your nervous system asks for calm, when your soul asks for simplicity.
It can be as small as one conscious breath.
One evening without plans.
One moment where you don’t rush to fill the silence.
If you feel tired, sensitive, introspective — you’re not failing. You’re responding to the season you’re in.
Winter is not asking you to bloom.
It’s asking you to slow down, to care for yourself, and to trust that rest is part of life’s intelligence.
I know it's hard, so I deciede to help you in this offering you a small gift; a short meditation you can return to whenever you need to slow down and don’t have much time.
I invite you to take at least a few minutes to pause, soften, and come back to your breath. Even a brief moment of presence can help you reset, reconnect, and remember that you don’t need to rush to be okay.
So maybe today, you soften the pace.
Maybe you allow yourself to do a little less.
Maybe you let quiet be enough.
Om Shanti
